OM: a defender on his way to Serie A

Pol Lirola could join the ranks of Monza in the coming days. The Spaniard would have agreed with the club of Silvio Berlusconi. OM could loan him out until the end of the season.

Pol Lirola, match OM Olympique de Marseille-ESTAC Troyes

According to information gathered by journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Pol Lirola has reached an agreement with Monza, with a view to joining their squad in the second half of the season. His colleague Fabrizio Romano adds that the Italian club has agreed with OM for a loan with an option to buy. The operation could quickly succeed.

Aged 25, Pol Lirola joined the ranks of OM in January 2021, as part of a loan from Fiorentina. The side completed six successful months, before being transferred definitively to the Marseille club for 13 million euros, the following summer. His performances then proved to be disappointing. The Marseille leaders resolved to lend him to Elche during the last summer transfer window. However, his La Liga adventure went badly: the player only played 9 games (for 1 goal), in all competitions. He could therefore very quickly change his tune.

Mystery rookie’s name still not revealed

The amount of the call option has not yet been filtered. But we can assume that it is close to that enjoyed by Elche, 8 million euros with 10% on a possible resale. The sum should not impact Marseille recruitment this winter.

The leaders of OM are working on the arrival of a second recruitwhose name has not yet been revealed. Ruslan Malinovskyi has already signed on a loan with an option to buy a few days ago. His transfer could become final for an amount of 13 million euros next summer.

While waiting for new movements on the transfer market, OM are currently experiencing a very good period in terms of results. The team coached by Igor Tudor points to 3e position in the Ligue 1 standings, 5 points behind PSG and 2 behind RC Lens.
