Nassourdine Imavov beaten on points by Sean Strickland at UFC Fight Night

Nassourdine Imavov suffered his fourth UFC loss on Saturday night at UFC Vegas 67 in Nevada. The Frenchman was dominated by Sean Strickland. The American, who nevertheless remained on two defeats (including one during the previous UFC evening), won on points unanimously from the three judges (twice 49-47 and once 48-47). This comes as a surprise since Strickland was only named as Imavov’s opponent days before the fight following Kelvin Gastelum’s injury.

Even if several statistics are close between the two fighters (150 blows having touched against 148), Strickland most of the time gave the tempo of a fight which took place almost exclusively standing (only 1 successful takedown for the American) . He also marked the judges with sharper strikes. Imavov remained on a series of three victories. And even if the fight took place in light-heavyweight, it is likely that his ranking at middleweight (12th at present) suffers.
